PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system in which an amount of data is reduced without compressing the data and video data are transmitted by commonly using a cable that is also used to transmit various control signals and audio data, to provide a display device and a data generating device. SOLUTION: When a transmission request of video data is received from a monitor device (S3), a navigation device transmits color pallet data and video format information to the monitor device (S5). In the monitor device, a color pallet, a frame rate and display resolution are set (S7 to S9) based on the received color pallet data and the video format information and control commands are transmitted to the navigation device in order to transmit the video data. When the video data are transmitted from the navigation device, color information conversion by the color pallet is conducted and video is displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
