PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerative/decelerative shock reducing device for a vehicle capable of setting the shock reducing amount in such a manner as to suit the favor of individual drivers. SOLUTION: The accelerative/decelerative shock reducing device includes a shock reducing amount selecting means 20 installed at the driver seat of the vehicle, and if the driver operates buttons 21, 22, 23 of the means 20, an engine control characteristic setting means 30 sets the engine control characteristics corresponding to the contents of the operation and gives them to an engine control device 10. Thereby any driver who is innocent to generation of accelerative/decelerative shocks can have an energetic driving sense in which the shock reducing amount remains minimum but the acceleration/deceleration response is excellent, while a driver who is nervous for generation of such shocks can have a composed driving sense in which the shock reducing amount is maximum but the acceleration/deceleration response is mild.
