The method for operating water- and smoke-tube boilers which have pipes (4, 5) on their outer surface linking the upper and lower sections of the boiler comprises simultaneously feeding different media, e.g. water and a mixture of water and steam, in opposite directions within each pipe. An Independent claim is included for a system for carrying out the method.
