The component coating aid (1) has a holder (2) and stiffened casing material (3,4) to cover the parts which are not to be coated. A holder operated jaw (5) is formed with the casing material stiffening to protect the component parts in the closed jaw against coating medium. The stiffening is formed from wood, plastic and/or metal, and is sprung so that the jaw can be opened only against the resistance of spring force. The stiffening may be a one-piece of multi-section construction. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the coating of components using the proposed component coating aid.
