PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single magnetic pole head capable of preventing destruction of recorded magnetization information by suppressing a magnetic field generated from a tip by the residual magnetization of a main magnetic pole, and to provide a perpendicular magnetic recording device. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a main magnetic pole for recording information on a medium; a coil for exciting the main magnetic pole to record information; and a conductive layer disposed at least in the vicinity of the main magnetic pole tip through an insulating layer. Immediately after cutting-off of a current to the coil, a current is supplied to the conductive layer in a main magnetic pole height direction to direct the magnetization of the main magnetic pole in a track width direction, and a magnetic charge on the tip of the main magnetic pole is reduced.
