PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat development method by which the processing time can be shortened within the range not decreasing the cooling ability of a cooling section. SOLUTION: A heat developing photosensitive material or a heat developing recording material containing a photosensitive thermosensitive recording material is heat developed with light or heat, and then the heat developing recording material is gradually cooled to the glass transition temperature or lower than that in a slow cooling section. The recording material is further cooled in a cooling section to such a degree that the material can be touched with a hand. In this method, when the cooling power in the cooling section is high, the transport speed in the cooling section is increased than a specified speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
