PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution using an electrophoretic element in order to control light quantity made incident on an imaging device. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic light quantity adjusting element is constituted of substantially transparent 1st and 2nd substrates, a plurality of electrodes formed on the substrates, a gap supporting body for keeping a gap between the substrates at a specified value, and transparent insulating liquid with which space between the 1st and the 2nd substrates is filled and which includes a plurality of opaque electrostatic charge floating particles, and adjusts the light quantity transmitted through an aperture part being at least one part of the 1st and the 2nd substrates. By using the electrophoretic light quantity adjusting element, the light quantity made incident on the imaging device is adjusted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
