PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weak-solvent-based coating composition which gives a coating film excellent in corrosion resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, adhesion, mechanical properties, weathering resistance, etc., is excellent in driability, and is usable not only as an undercoat but also as a topcoat. SOLUTION: The coating composition contains (C) an epoxy-resin-modified vinyl polymer obtained by reacting (A) an amino-containing vinyl polymer with (B) an epoxy resin, (D) a curing agent, and (E) an organic solvent based on an aliphatic hydrocarbon organic compound, wherein the epoxy resin (B) is a polycondensate of a specified dihydroxybenzene with an epihalohydrin or a polyadduct of the polycondensate with a phenol and/or a carboxylic acid.
