摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate by a solid phase polymerization method using a crystalline aromatic polycarbonate, in which an inert gas exhausted from a solid phase polymerization tank is recycled to efficiently produce the aromatic polycarbonate. SOLUTION: This method for producing the aromatic polycarbonate by the solid phase polymerization method using the crystalline aromatic polycarbonate whose main repeating unit is represented by formula (1) (R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>, and R<SB>4</SB>are each independently H, a halogen atom, a 1 to 10C alkyl, a 7 to 20C aralkyl or a 6 to 20C aryl; W is a single bond, a 2 to 20C alkylidene, a 1 to 20C alkylene, a 3 to 15C cycloalkylidene, a 3 to 15C cycloalkylene, O, S, sufoxide or sulfone) is characterized by introducing a reaction by-product and/or unreacted material-containing inert gas exhausted from the solid phase polymerization reaction tank into a solvent, further introducing into an adsorbing agent and then recycling the inert gas for the solid phase polymerization.
