PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable coating composition which can give a metallic base coating excellent in metal orientation properties and metal return unevenness, can be used also as an enamel coating, and is excellent in finished appearance, flexibility, recoating properties, gloss, apparent thickness, corrosion resistance, filiform corrosion properties, moisture resistance, and warm water resistance. SOLUTION: This coating composition comprises (A) a nonaqueous polymer dispersion which contains organic-solvent-insoluble dispersed copolymer particles formed by copolymerizing (b) optionally selected polymerizable monomers each having a double bond in an organic solvent in the presence of (a) a dispersion stabilizer consisting of an organic-solvent-soluble copolymer formed by copolymerizing (a) optionally selected polymerizable monomers each having a double bond, (B) an amino resin as a cross-linker, and (C) a resin for pigment dispersion excellent in compatibility with ingredients (A) and (B).
