PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a duplex-head grinding device grinding a work while suppressing the occurrence of an air cut. SOLUTION: This duplex grinding device is disposed with a pair of grinding wheels opposed to each other in both surfaces of the plate-shaped work and grinds both surfaces of the work. This grinding device is provided with a grinding wheel front end detecting means detecting the front ends of the grinding wheels, a grinding wheel position detecting means detecting the positions of the grinding wheels when the grinding wheel front end detecting means detecting the front ends of the grinding wheels, and a grinding wheel wear amount estimation means estimating the wear amount of the grinding wheels using a detecting signal from the grinding wheel front end detecting means and a detecting signal from the grinding wheel detecting means.
