A handle adapted to be mounted on a watthour meter cover facilitates movement of the watthour meter relative to a meter socket. The handle is removably attachable to a handle receiver carried on the cover, with the handle defini ng a finger grip surface. The receiver is in the form of one or more recesses or projections which are engagable with complimentary portions on the handle.
