METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FEEDING A PULVERIZED MATERIAL

An apparatus and method are provided for feeding a pulverized material which includes a first storage container (264) for receiving and for discharging a flow of the pulverized material. The apparatus includes a separation chamber (278) attached to the first storage container (264), which is alternatiely fill up or to empty out with the pulverized material. A second storage container (288) is connected with an outlet of the sepration chamber (278), for alternately filling the second storage container (288) in accordance to a predetermined storage amount of pulverized material. Discharging means (294) are attached to an outlet of the second storage container (288) for continuously controlling the discharge of the pulverized material. Conveying means (296) are arranged with the discharging means (294) for conveying the material discharged. Means (302, 304) are provided for calculating the amoun t of pulverized material in the second storage container (288), for alternatel y controlling the filling up and emptied out of the second storage means (288) in accordance with a predetermined storage level or weight of the pulverized material. And, control means (322) for processing signals provided by the means for calculating the amount of pulverized material in the second storag e container (288) foralternately opening or closing the separation chamber (278) for the filling of the second storage container (288).
