HYDROGEN PRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen producing apparatus using a direct decomposition process of hydrocarbon in which carbon monoxide is not produced as a by-product when hydrogen is generated.

SOLUTION: The hydrogen producing apparatus comprises a raw material tank 10 for storing hydrocarbon, a reaction vessel 30 housing a catalyst bed 34 to which hydrocarbon is supplied from the raw material tank 10 and a heating means 20 to heat the catalyst bed 34 and supplied hydrocarbon, wherein the catalyst bed 34 comprises a hydrocarbon decomposition catalyst for direct decomposition of hydrocarbon into hydrogen and carbon and the reaction vessel 30 has a space 32 for holding carbon generated by the catalytic reaction and a hydrogen outlet 46 for discharging similarly generated hydrogen.
