PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quinoline compound having a melanin-agglutination hormone-antagonizing activity and useful as the preventing and treating agent of obesity. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by formula [wherein, Ar is a cyclic group allowed to have a substituent; X is a bonding or a spacer having a main chain of 1-6 number of atoms; R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>are each the same or different and are each H or a hydrocarbon allowed to have a substituent, or R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are allowed to form a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring allowed to have a substituent together with adjacent nitrogen atom; Y is a divalent hydrocarbon group (except for CO) allowed to have a substituent; R<SP>3</SP>is H or a hydrocarbon group may have a substituent; ring A and ring B may have further substituents; and further when the ring B has a further substituent, the substituent may form a ring by bonding with the R<SP>1</SP>] or its salt or prodrug.
