PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding unit capable of conducting discrimination and recognition to a plurality of paper feeding units by a single control signal. SOLUTION: This paper feeding unit is provided with a pulse signal cycle detecting means 4 to detect the cycle of the same pulse signals received by the respective paper feeding units 3a-3c, a memory means 7 to memorize the pulse signals of a prescribed cycle, a comparing means 6 to compare the cycle of the pulse signals detected by the pulse signal cycle detecting means 4 with the cycle of the pulse signal memorized in the memory means 7, and a pulse signal dividing circuit means 6 to divide the pulse signals received to be fed to the paper feeding unit on the lower stage.
