PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary index method and a device for a turn table providing a start position and a finish position of a work in an opposite positions of an approximately 180°with all the indexing positions applicable to the work. SOLUTION: This rotary index method for the turn table includes to mount components 6 and 7 on the turn table, carry the components at a prescribed angle, and performing a work such as assembling thereon. The turn table can be positioned at odd number (n) of positions and a single movement of the turn table is positioned by rotating at an angle of 360°×(n-1)/2n. This constitution can make the positional relation between the start position P1 and the finish position P5 of the turn table to the positions of an approximately 180°and all the index positions P1-P5 can be effectively used.
