NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE AIR BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte air battery having an improved large-current discharge characteristic.

SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte air battery is equipped with: a container 1; a positive electrode 5 housed in the container 1 and containing an active material; a negative electrode 8 housed in the container 1; a nonaqueous electrolyte layer 9 disposed between the positive electrode 5 and the negative electrode 8; and air holes 13 formed in the container 1 for introducing oxygen into the positive electrode 5. The nonaqueous electrolyte air battery is characterized by that the active material contains at least 3-50 wt.% of one derivative out of a phthalocyanine derivative wherein more than 20 wt.% thereof has an amorphous structure and a naphthocyanine derivative wherein more than 20 wt.% thereof has an amorphous structure, and the total quantity of the derivative(s) included in the active material and having the amorphous structure is more than 3 wt.%.
