ADSL MODEM INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR COMMUNICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable synchronization of a hyper-frame and a synchronization of a symbol to be simultaneously established and to surely establish the synchronizations even when the distance between an ATU-C and an ATU-R becomes large.

SOLUTION: An ADSL modem apparatus 2 that serves as an ATU-R receives a signal in a hyperframe format having FEXT and NEXT parts, when an initialization sequence is started, the signal configured with a known number of symbols. The received signal is sampled by an AFE 13 and stored in a buffer memory 278a of an FET unit 27. A processor 20 establishes a symbol synchronization and a hyperframe synchronization upon receiving an original signal based on sample data of the original signal, the original signal having REVERB signals during a FEXT period and non-REVERB signals distinguishable from the REVERB signals during a NEXT period.
