<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add required functions as a sampling circuit and a precharge circuit in a liquid crystal device using an active matrix driving method by driving a TFT, and to reduce the space occupied by the circuits on a substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device (200) has a liquid crystal layer (50) held between a pair of substrates, pixel electrodes (11) formed in a matrix form on the substrate, and TFTs (30) to switch and control the electrodes.
