PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device whose life is prolonged by preventing the wrinkles and cracks of a fixing roller. SOLUTION: As for the fixing device for fixing a toner image on a recording material as a permanent image by carrying the recording material while holding the recording material at a fixation nip formed by bringing the fixing roller 1 coming into contact with the toner image carrying surface side of the recording material 14 into press contact with a pressure roller 7 coming into contact with the side opposite to the toner image carrying surface side of the recording material, the fixing roller and the pressure roller are separately constituted by laminating an elastic layer 5, intermediate layers 4 and 3 and a mold release layer 2 on a core bar 6, and the hardness of the fixing roller is made differ from that of the pressure roller in a state where only the elastic layer 5 is formed on the core bar 6, the product hardness of the roller having the lower hardness in the state where only the elastic layer 5 is formed on the core bar 6 is made higher than that of the roller having the higher hardness in the state where only the elastic layer is formed on the core bar.
