PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for a digital still camera which can operate as both a normally open system and a normally closed system. SOLUTION: A front blade comprises two arms 11 and 12 and three blades 13 to 15 pivoted thereupon, and the arm 11 rotates clockwise by having a pushed part 11a pushed by a driving pin 8b only when a front blade driving member 8 rotates with the energizing force of a driving spring and reciprocally rotates with an output pin 21g fitted in a long hole 11b when a motor 21 reciprocally rotates. A rear blade comprises two arms 16 and 17 and three blades 18 to 20 pivoted thereupon and the arm 16 reciprocally rotates with a driving pin 9b fitted in a long hole when a rear blade driving member 9 reciprocally rotates. One of the two operation systems can be selected by changing the order of driving by the front blade driving member 8 and motor 21 for the front blade. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
