PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an occupied area of a memory area of OSDRAM by information characters that are not displayed. SOLUTION: This character display control device is provided with a blank character length information detecting circuit 19 for detecting whether a blank code indicating a blank part wherein no character to be displayed exists, is included in the character code or not, and a flip flop 20 for stopping displaying clock signals inputted to a display output control circuit 15 by the number of pixels in the display region indicated by the blank code, when the blank code is detected.
