PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection screen which makes it possible to obtain a clear image without being influenced by a projection environment and can be made flexible and manufactured at low cost, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: On a black substrate 11, an optical multilayer film 12 is formed of a solvent-based material such as a thermosetting resin by using a coating method such as spin coating under atmospheric pressure. The optical multilayer film 12 has high-refractive-index films 12H and low-refractive-index films 12L laminated alternately. The film thicknesses of the individual optical multilayer films 12 are so designed as to have high reflection characteristics to light of the primary-color wavelength region consisting of light beams in the wavelength regions of respective colors of, for example, red, green, and blue and further to have high transmission characteristics to light in an at least visible wavelength region other than the wavelength region of the primary-colors. Consequently, the contrast of an image formed on the screen is increased and manufacturing processes do not take large man-hours. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
