PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system and a positioning method which perform the positioning of a moving object with a high precision, even when received radio wave contains reflected waves due to multipath phenomenon. SOLUTION: The positioning system receives radio waves from a plurality of different satellites, and computes a position of the moving object, based on the received radio wave. An antenna receives the radio waves in such a manner that an incoming direction of the radio wave is discriminated. A direct wave extracting means extracts a direct wave from among radio waves received by the antenna, on the basis of position information of each of the satellites which is previously acquired, and the incoming direction of the radio wave received by the antenna. A position of the moving object is computed on the basis of the direct wave extracted by the direct wave extracting means, from among the radio waves received by the antenna. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
