PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel tread brake device capable of simply preventing the incorrect insertion of a brake block cotter. SOLUTION: A brake head 5 is provided with a guide plate 33 at the upper side of a recess 25. The guide wall 33 is formed over the side of the brake head 5 as one body with the brake head 5 by casting. The guide wall 33 includes a first part 33a extended upward from a part located at the upper part of the recess 25 and a second part 33b curved and extended from the first part 33a to a part located the lower part of a bar member 31. The brake block 7 and the brake head are connected by a brake block cotter. The brake block cotter is inserted in a raised part in a roughly U-shape under a condition that a recess 25 of the brake head 5 and a raised part of the brake block are fitted. The brake block cotter 37 is guided by the guide wall 33 and is surely inserted in the raised part of the brake block. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
