The measuring device for measuring flow volume of fluids includes a collector (1) which is emptied when it is determined by means of a float (9,10) that it is full. The device also has a counter (26) to count the number of times the collector is emptied. The collector container has an emptying valve (3) connected to an open and close mechanism (6,7). This cooperates with the float via a close stop and an open stop, and is connected to a magnetic flip flop (12-16). When the flip flop is in its closed position it exerts a resilient force in the close direction and, in the open position, exerts a force in the open direction. The flip flop is arranged outside the collection container (1) and preferably on top of its lid (8).
