<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a download device and method and a medium making it possible for a user to constitute an optimum printer resource environment without being conscious of installation issues such as a kind of a printer's storage device and a processing speed, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The device for downloading resources such as font data, macro data, and color profile information into peripheral equipment such as a printer comprises an information acquisition means for acquiring information on the storage device of the printer; a determining means for making determination as to the information acquired by the information acquisition means; an indicating means for indicating the frequency of use of the resources; a display means; and a downloading means. When the determining means determines that the printer is equipped with a slow storage device and a fast storage device, a message urging an indication of the frequency of use the resources is displayed; when the user indicates that the frequency of use is high, the resources are downloaded into the fast storage device; when the user indicates that the frequency is low, the resources are downloaded into the slow storage device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
