PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a liquid jet device that can accurately manage information about a consumption rate or a residual rate by referencing an initial filling quantity corresponding to a liquid cartridge which is loaded to be replaced even when multiple types of liquid cartridges having different initial filling quantities are selectively loaded to be replaced and to provide a method of controlling the same. SOLUTION: This control device and the method of controlling the same are used for controlling the liquid jet device to which the multiple types of liquid cartridges having different initial filling quantities can be loaded to be replaced. The liquid jet device is equipped with an information output means that outputs information indicative of a consumption rate or a residual rate of a liquid based on judged information of the initial filling quantity and the consumption quantity of the liquid by obtaining the judged information of the initial filling quantity corresponding to the loaded liquid cartridge and detecting the consumption quantity of the consumed liquid. The information output means outputs the information indicative of the identical consumption rate or residual rate irrespective of the magnitude of the initial filling quantity of the liquid cartridge when a non-used liquid cartridge is loaded thereto.
