PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel exhibiting good characteristics by stably reducing gaseous impurities by a relatively easy method. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel has a pair of a front glass substrate 1 and a rear glass substrate 5 that are arranged in opposition so as to form a discharge space partitioned by a partition wall between the substrates and sealed at their peripheral parts with a sealing material 12, a plurality of electrodes arranged on the substrates so as to cause discharge in the discharge space partitioned by the partition wall and a dielectric glass layer 3 formed on the front glass substrate 1 so as to cover the electrodes, and gas circulating passages 11 are formed in parts outside a display region of the peripheral parts of the substrates. The gas circulating passages 11 formed in two sides opposite to each other in parallel with the electrodes are shaped in such a manner that a sectional area of each passage varies from one end to the other end, and the forms of the respective gas circulating passages 11 formed in the sides opposite to each other are such that their sectional areas vary in reverse directions.
