PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device equipped with a character input keyboard with a key arrangement to execute Kana character input and Roman character input concurrently. SOLUTION: This device is comprised of a four-direction designation key 11 to move a cursor, a function switching key 12 to switch the function of the four-direction designation key 11 alternately between a character input function same as the continuous keying of a line designation key and a cursor moving function, and a character input controller to control the input so as to determine an input character ('SU') by the keying of a direction designation part (u) in the four-direction designation key 11 following the keying of the line designation key 1, and also determine an input character ('A') by switching to the cursor moving function by a selecting operation of the function switching key 12 to perform the keying of the direction designation part (u) in the four-direction designation key 11 following the keying of the line designation key 3.
