PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which effectively acquires radiated light from am organic EL element and brightly displays a projected display image without increasing the size and the cost of a projection lens. SOLUTION: The projection display device has an electroluminescence element having a plurality pixels capable of being individually modulated and projects light radiated from individual modulated pixels in the electroluminescence element to an object by a projection lens to display an image, and the electroluminescence element has modulation pixels arranged two-dimensionally which form excitons by charge carrier injection to a light emitting layer and generate and radiate light by recoupling of excitons, and the projection lens has characteristics being non-telecentric on the luminous body side where principal light passing a centroid of a lens aperture pupil which acquires divergent radiated light from the pixels converges in a pixel position at a maximum height of a luminous body being the electroluminescence element from the optical axis of the projection lens when viewed from the electroluminescence element.
