PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tailored blank press formed article which is excellent in formability and controllability of work hardening caused by press working, thus hardly causes defect in the forming, facilitates quality control compared with the conventional case, and of which the quality can be improved at a relatively low cost. SOLUTION: A first metallic sheet stock X and a second metallic sheet stock Y of which the materials and/or sheet thicknesses are different are welded to obtain a connected base plate in which both the metallic sheet stocks are integrated. The connected base plate is heated to a temperature region where quenching is possible for the first and second metallic sheet stocks. The connected base plate in the temperature state capable of quenching is subjected to press working by using press dies 10 and 20 in a relatively low temperature, so that the application of a desired shape and quenching are performed at a time.
