A fuel injector (1), in particular a fuel injector (1) for fuel-injection systems of internal combustion engines, includes a valve needle (3) cooperating with a valve-seat surface (6) to form a sealing seat, and has an armature (20) engaging with the valve needle (3), the armature (20) being axially moveable on the valve needle (3) and damped by a damping element (32) made of an elastomer. The damping element (32) is positioned in a recess (34) of the armature (20) at the valve needle (3) in such a way that the valve needle (3) is connected to the armature (20) in the radial direction via the damping element (32).
