PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of current sensors for a driving gear of a motor provided with a plurality of multiphase coils for generating a rotating field to rotate a rotor for a single rotor.

SOLUTION: Phase currents are supplied respectively to 3-phase coils Y1 and Y2 from inverters INV1 and INV2. Four current sensors are normally required to detect two phase currents for the 3-phase coils Y1 and Y2. Two phase currents are detected for one of the 3-phase coil Y1, and the phase current for the 3-phase coil Y2 is estimated based on the detection result.
