<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the nucleic acid sequence of a new 16S-23S gene spacer region on the chromosome of Campylobacter rectus, and to provide a rapid and simple bacterium detection method using the inserted sequence. <P>SOLUTION: A method and a reagent for amplifying the DNA fragment of the 16S-23S gene spacer region of the Campylobacter rectus each is characterized by comprising the new 16S-23S gene spacer region having a specific nucleic acid sequence or a nucleic acid sequence complementary to the sequence, an oligonucleotide containing a nucleic acid sequence comprising at least continuous 15 bases of the sequence, a nucleic acid-amplifying primer of the oligonucleotide, a thermally stable DNA polymerase, dNTP and a buffer solution.
