PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem on a rotor shaft to be used for a gas turbine that a material for an internal layer significantly limits the performance of a bonding joint when separating a plate to be used for forming the bonding joint using the low-strength material for the internal layer for helpfully preventing the production of a harmful intermetallic compound over the bonding joint. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing the rotor shaft 21 comprises a step of manufacturing a first shaft portion 48 extending from a first end to a second end in the axial direction, a step of manufacturing a second shaft portion 50 extending from the first end to the second end in the axial direction. and a step of bonding the second shaft portion to the first shaft portion via the explosion bonding joint 102 so that the second shaft portion is aligned substantially concentric with the first shaft portion and the bonding joint extends obliquely to a center symmetrical axis 60 of the rotor shaft.
