PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the overall evaluation of sanitary tissue paper by absolutizing the evaluation as far as possible, especially by using a formula for the evaluation of total handling value (THV) of the sanitary tissue paper. SOLUTION: The softness and flexibility B, the linear compressibility LC and the mean deviation MMD of friction coefficient of surface properties are measured by a KES tester. The evaluation of the total handling value (THV) satisfies formula (A) for a single ply sanitary tissue paper and satisfies formula (B) for a two ply sanitary tissue paper. Formula (A) is THV=K<SB>1</SB>-K<SB>2</SB>B-K<SB>3</SB>LC-K<SB>4</SB>MMD≥3.30 wherein K<SB>1</SB>is 5.0-8.0, K<SB>2</SB>is 20-70, K<SB>3</SB>is 0.1-3.0 and K<SB>4</SB>is 70-120; and formula (B) is K<SB>5</SB>-K<SB>6</SB>B-K<SB>7</SB>LC-K<SB>8</SB>MMD≥4.00 wherein K<SB>5</SB>is 4.0-10.0, K<SB>6</SB>is 5-50, K<SB>7</SB>is 0.1-3.0 and K<SB>8</SB>is 100-190.
