摘要 967,979. Reciprocating conveyers; spiral shoots. F. JOS. LAMB CO. Oct. 25, 1962 [Oct. 30, 1961], No. 40418/62. Headings B8A and B8S. A reciprocating conveyer comprises a runway 1, consisting of spaced parallel guide rails 2 longitudinally between which carrier rails 3 extend, and a transfer rail 13 mounted for reciprocation along a supporting rail 7 by means of upper and lower flanged rollers 12, 10 which maintain the transfer rail 13 uniformly spaced from the runway 1. The transfer rail 13 is reciprocated by a piston-rod 16 connected to the transfer rail through a drive pin 17 and a bracket 18. A cylinder 15 attached to the supporting rail 7 by a mounting 14 drives the piston-rod 16 through a four-way pneumatic valve 24 secured to the supporting rail 7. The valve 24 has reversing buttons 29 operated by trips 30 attached to the transfer rail 13. Attached to the bracket 18 is a pivot pin 20 on which a brush 21 with resilient bristles 19 is mounted with a stop member 22 which prevents the brush 21 from turning in one direction when it extends vertically downwards, but permits it some turning movement in the other direction. Additional brushes 21a are mounted on additional brackets 18a. As the transfer rail 13 is moved by the piston-rod 16 in the direction in which workpieces AA are to be moved, the brushes 21, 21a are held in their working positions by the stops 22, 22a and when the pistonrod 16 is moved in the opposite direction each brush is free to turn about its pivot and travel back over workpieces which remain stationary on the runway. The various rails 2, 3, 7, 13 are resilient so that the path of the conveyer may be curved: the transfer rail 13k<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 25) being further guided by horizontally arranged rollers 42. The runway and transfer rail may be helically wound (Fig. 30) to provide an elevator with large storage space with no danger of undischarged workpieces being damaged as the resilience of the bristles of the brushes enables them to sweep over workpieces held on the runway. When the runway is inclined a stop may be provided to prevent workpieces running backwards (Fig. 34, not shown). More than one runway may be provided (Fig. 8, not shown) and workpieces may be moved in opposite directions along adjacent runways by a single transfer rail (Fig. 5, not shown). As shown in Fig. 37, cylindrical workpieces P may be fed along a runway 1p by a piece of notched rubber 21s.
