A combine-harvester includes a concave and grating assembly 32 of circular crosssection having a large diameter at one end and its smallest diameter at the other end, there being a peripheral feed-opening 42 at the narrower end and a rotatable threshing cylinder 31 closely fitting within the concave assembly and of similar crosssectional shape, means being provided for discharging straw at the wider end of the concave and for collecting threshed material passing radially through the concave. In the form shown the concave and drum are of double frusto-conical shape with the feed-opening 42 in the middle so that the crop passes outwardly in both directions. The crop is cut by a mower-bar 17 at the forward end of a header 15 having the usual auger 19 and conveyer 20 which feeds the crop through the opening 42. The concave has a central fixed part 41, incompletely circular to permit the entry of the crop, and two outer conical parts 43 which are axially movable to vary their spacing relatively to the threshing cylinder. The cylinder 31 comprises shafts 33 carrying hubs 34 which support raspbars 35 having helical grooves 36 which cause the grain to follow a spiral path through the cylinder. Fan-blades 50 are mounted on the ends of shafts 33 to impel straw through outlets 51. The fanblades co-operate with concave grilles 52 through which grain may pass to fall on to deflectors 57. A double auger 55 extends parallel to the threshing cylinder and carries threshed grain to the centre where rotary impellers 60 feed it up a shoot 61 to a cleaning shoe 25 incorporating reciprocating sieves 26, 27 and a winnowing fan. |
