In a thermal transfer product with an ink-release layer containing wax(es) and pigment(s), the layer also contains binder(s). An Independent claim is also included for a process for applying an ink-release layer or a release layer and an ink layer as above to a substrate film by applying the layer or each layer as dispersion and removing the solvent.
