PURPOSE: A PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) drive circuit is provided to generate reference data by using an up-counter instead of an up/down counter. CONSTITUTION: A PWM drive circuit includes a counter for counting reference clock signals and generating reference data and a comparator for comparing the reference data to display data and generating PWM signals to a flat display device driver. The comparator includes an identity detector(500), a PWM signal converter(510), and a PWM signal output unit(530). The identity detector(500) is used for detecting the identity between bit signals of the reference data and the display data. The PWM signal converter(510) is used for converting an output signal of the identity detector to a PWM signal. The PWM signal output unit(530) outputs an output signal of the PWM signal converter to the flat display device.
