<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication module capable of attaining transmission of video data with high real time performance while relieving a load on a CPU. <P>SOLUTION: The communication module 100 is provided with: a bus control section 102 for controlling accesses to a CPU system bus 1100; a CPU IF control section 101 for applying communication processing to non-video data; a block IF 103 for processing video data in units of blocks; a buffer 104 for storing the video data in the units of blocks and from which the video data are extracted by a packet IF 105 in units of packets; a communication arbitration section 106 for arbitrating transmission of video data packets and transmission of non-video communication packets; a MAC system PCI control section 107 for outputting data to a MAC processing apparatus 1400; a transmission rate control section for informing the communication arbitration section about a transmission time of the video data; and a reception abort control section 108 for instructing the buffer to abort the received data too much resident in itself. Thus, the communication module can iperform the communication protocol processing of the video data independently of the software under the control of the OS so as to relieve the load imposed on the CPU. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
