<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for easily and effectively preventing growth of weed on the periphery of a grounding portion of a columnar structure such as a sign-pole set in the outdoors, to thereby solve a bother of weeding. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a mat for the pole which is obtained by connecting between two mat members 2A, 2B having notch portions 1A, 1B, respectively, for defining a wall penetrating portion 1 forming a hole 10 for fitting therein the columnar structure, along connecting edges 21A, 21B. The mat has a cross section which is thickest at the wall penetrating portion 1 and progressively reduced toward a peripheral portion 8. The mat for the pole is laid on the ground such that the wall penetrating portion 1 forming the hole 10 fits onto the periphery of an installation portion of the columnar structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
