摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform evaluation of quality of a digital signal based on path metric difference with simple constitution. SOLUTION: A signal quality evaluating section 10 is provided with a specific pattern detecting circuit 12 detecting a specific pattern from a bit string corresponding to a digital reproducing signal, and an arithmetic circuit 13 calculating path metric difference between a correct path specifying the specific pattern when the specific pattern is detected by the specific pattern detecting circuit 12, and an error path confronting with the correct path in a viterbi decoding process based on the digital reproducing signal using an calculating equation set previously for each specific pattern. Thereby, quality of the digital reproducing signal can be evaluated without using the viterbi decoding circuit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
