PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily update a dictionary content based on information on a misprint detected in an electronic dictionary user in a dictionary information updating device for updating the content of a dictionary with information from the dictionary user. SOLUTION: When the misprint is detected in a retrieval result by incorporated dictionary data 22x with dictionary retrieval by the user electronic dictionary 20 (30), a misprint part is designated. When misprint information is transmitted to a dictionary management server 10, it is judged whether misprint information received from the electronic dictionary 20 requires correction in master dictionary data 12b or not by a prescribed check function or recognition of a misprint notice for a person in charge of dictionary publishing company in the server 10. When the misprint is recognized, an applied part in master dictionary data 12b is corrected and misprint correction patch data 12c is sent to the user electronic dictionary 20 of a misprint notice source with a service point of a reward and a thank-you letter mail.
