PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accept specification of a transmission destination of mail by specification of a geographical area. SOLUTION: A mail service server 11 reads a map out of a map database server 7, arranges a house icon at coordinates on the map corresponding to the address of each house read out of a resident database server 5, and displays the read map on a client terminal 13. When an area on the map displayed on the client terminal 13 is specified, a house having the address in a geographical area corresponding to the specified area on the map is extracted by reference to an address coordinate conversion table 10 and the mail address of the resident of the extracted house is retrieved from a mail address database 9; and editing of mail having the retrieval address as its transmission destination is accepted and the edited mail is sent to the resident as the transmission destination through a WAN 22.
