PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end face rustproofing method when using a surface-treated steel plate component in a portion with dew condensation or the like, and a refrigerator using the component with end face rustproofing applied thereto. SOLUTION: The surface-treated steel plate with zincic plating and coating or a laminate appted onto its surface is used as a base steel plate, a plate thickness of a cut portion part is made thinner than the base steel plate, and it is cut so that the zincic plating of the surface extends to a cut surface. A recessed part is provided in a thickness difference part with the plate thickness of the cut portion part made more thinner than the base steel plate, a gap is provided between the recessed part and an assembly counterpart component, an area wherein rust can form is reduced, and a cutting portion is positioned in a position avoiding an easily rusted portion (a portion that is hard to dry once it is wet). A total of plate thickness after end face cutting and a burr after the end face cutting is made thinner than the plate thickness of the base steel plate, the recessed part F is formed by a plate thickness difference from thinning, the gap is provided between the recessed part F and an inner box, and a droplet infiltration preventing agent such as a HERME SEAL(R) is fitted and filled into the gap.
