PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating device for a four-cycle engine that can miniaturize the whole engine while reducing the number of parts to simplify a structure. SOLUTION: In the engine, a side cover 8 partitioning a first valve chamber 9a is jointed to one side part of a crankcase 1, and a head cover 10 partitioning a second valve chamber 9b is jointed to the head part of a cylinder block 2. In this constitution, oil reservoir chambers 28, 29 surrounding a crank chamber 4 and a first valve chamber 9a are formed in the crankcase 1 and the side cover 8, and a crankshaft 5 is provided with oil feeding passages 35-38 communicating the oil level lower parts of the oil reservoir chambers 28, 29 with the crank chamber 4. Oil passing through the oil feeding passages 35-38 is scattered by the rotation of the crankshaft 5 to produce oil mist. The crank chamber 4 communicates with the first valve chamber 9a through a one-way valve 42, and a recovery hole 45 opened to the bottom part of the second valve chamber 9b communicates with the oil level upper parts of the oil reservoir chambers 28, 29.
