PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tray type sorting device capable of detecting the presence/absence and property of a carried article even when the carried article is small, without influenced by a color or dirt of a tray, and detecting a double feeding error and a feeding omission error. SOLUTION: The tray type sorting device comprises a plurality of trays T, a carrying path 600 on which the tray travels, one or more feeding portions 410 to 430 installed adjacently to the carrying path and feeding carried article to the tray, one or more chutes 510, 520 receiving the carried article discharged from the tray, and a detecting means detecting the carried article on the tray. The detecting means shoots an image before passing a feeding portion and an image after passing the feeding portion in front and behind the feeding portion, compares and computes the image before passing the feeding portion and the image after passing the feeding portion, extracts a different part of both images, and decides the chute to be discharged based on the extracted image.
